Empowerment in Action: Uniting for Change in the European Elections

Fostering Voices: BCIL Political Lobbying Strategy for Local and European Elections 2024

In anticipation of the Local and European Elections 2024, the Blanchardstown Center for Independent Living (BCIL), in collaboration with Fingal County Council and the Disability Federation of Ireland, is leading a transformative initiative. Under the banner of “Your Voice Counts”, this endeavor seeks to motivate individuals with disabilities towards active participation in shaping political discourse.

Recognizing the importance of collective action, the BCIL, along with its partners, attempt to craft a clear and comprehensive manifesto—a roadmap that not only articulates the demands of the disability community but also serves as a beacon for politicians seeking their support.

The journey towards a shared manifesto will take place on May 2nd with the first consultation session. BCIL members and stakeholders are encouraged to participate actively, sharing their insights and experiences to shape a manifesto that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of the community. This initiative is designed to facilitate local Disabled Persons’ Organizations (DPOs) in actively engaging with candidates during public forum.

Let’s come together, advocate for change, and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable society. Save the date—May 2nd—for the ‘Meet Your Councillor’ event and the first step towards shaping a brighter future for all. Your voice matters, your vote matters—let’s make them count! #EmpowermentThroughAdvocacy
